Context Of Contemporary Chinese Character Design

Chinese character, the hieroglyphic symbol plays a very important role in the long history of Chinese cultural transmission. It is a piece of Chinesedesign work from the perspective of the logo itself. Therefore, the thinkingmode, spiritual concept and human thoughts entailed in the Chinese character exert a great influence on the Chinese design. Since the emergence of Bauhaus School, western modern industrial design theories have brought a world-shaking change in the field of Chinese design, at the same time, new requirement hasbeen demanded for the Chinese art design in a new international cultural background, which also makes Chinese character design face a great challenge.As one of the hieroglyphic visual elements, Chinese character's role inmodern design field has changed qualitatively and affect our visual design subtly as well.Through the case study on Chinese character design works, this paper attempts to reveal the magic poetic and paint-like nature of the indefinite combinations of Chinese character's form and meaning, word, image and context from the multi-level perspective of Chinese character's features and thinking mode. Furthermore, meaning and formal deviation from Chinese character's special constructing rules like Mutually Explanatory, Guise is influencing the character's design language quietly from the perspective of modern game reading theory. It is found that Chinese character's unique feature and image& meaning duplicated representation have brought various feasibilities in the field of modern design. Thus, descriptive from discrepancy will enlighten us in Chinese character's design.
