| Dharmaksema is a famous translator in the 5th century in Northern Liang Dynasty. His Chinese-translated Buddhist Scriptures which belong to the Mahayana Buddhism have the enormous influence on the development of Chinese Buddhism.The thesis manages to have a preliminary study on the vocabulary in Dharmaksema's Chinese-translated Buddhist Scriptures. It consists of five chapters: The first chapter is the introduction to Dharmaksema and his Buddhist Scriptures, the standard and range of the study materials; The second chapter is the summary to the vocabulary features in Dharmaksema's translations including history successive nature, colloquial nature and Buddhism style; In the third chapter we explain the words and meanings which are neglected by The Great Dictionary of Chinese Vocabulary, which may contribute to dictionaries' editing and revising; The forth chapter inspects the flaw of The Great Dictionary of Chinese Vocabulary in words' examples based on the vocabulary in Dharmaksema's scriptures; In the fifth chapter, after comparing different Chinese versions of the Maha-Parinirvana Sutra, we inspect the similarities and dissimilarities in words usage, compare the colloquial nature between the two scriptures. |
