| The hermit and hermit-culture are integrated parts of Chinese traditional culture which have close relationships with politics, society and ideology of that dynasty. This paper endeavors to discuss the origins, classification, cultural characteristics and cultural significance of the hermits in the Wei and Jin dynasties.Firstly, this paper tracks down the origin of hermits and hermit-culture. In brief it discusses the appearance and common characteristics of hermits in Pre-qin Dynasty and Qin-Han Dynasty as the origin of hermit culture, which is beneficial for us to retrospect and compare the historical development and characteristics of that time.Secondly, basing on the study of the hermits in Pre-qin Dynasty and Qin-Han Dynasty it explores further the characteristics and types of hermits in Wei and Jin dynasties for the panorama of the hermit-culture of that time. Considering the cultural background, politics and some other elements the author takes the Wei and Jin dynasties as the climax of hermit-culture basing on the hermit characteristics of that time.Thirdly, basing on the analysis of the hermit characteristics of Wei and Jin dynasties it reveals the influence and significance of hermit-culture in Wei and Jin dynasties on future generation. This paper analyzes its influence on future generation from three aspects: the golden age of hermit-culture, the comparison to the power of central autocratic system and the psychological effect on literati.In a word ,we should synthesize the Pre-qin, Qin-Han and Wei-Jin dynasties as a whole without single analysis of the hermit culture of Wei and Jin dynasties for better understanding and exploration of the characteristics and significance of Wei and Jin dynasties as the climax of Hermit culture. |
