The Research On Ancient Stages Of YiYang

Yiyang County, located in the northeast of Jiangxi Province and middle reaches of the Xinjiang River, is the origon Of"Yiyang Accent''. As"Yiyang Accent''popularized and passed throgh in Ming and Qing Dynasty, ancient opera stages had existed in every corner and were built continously in the county till end of Qing Dynasty and the beginning of Min period.The birth and development of Ancient Yiyang Opera Stages were influenced by local geography, economy, culture, custom, and religion in particular, was a far-reaching element. The religion's influence to the forming of stages is visible, from Three Layers Tables used in sacrificial performance to Three Stories Flower-stages in folk Mulian Opera perfoemance of"Yiyang Accent", to the unique stage shapes --six entrances and exits for performing.According to its shape and structure, Yiyang acient stages can be classified as Temple Stage, Ancestral Temple Stage , Wannian Stage, Straw stage and so on, whereas the number of Ancestral Temple Stage and Wannian Stage are more than others. Xili ancient stage, has unique structure, is the earliest stage that preserved in southeast of Yangzi River. The common stage has one entrance and one exit, with musicians playing instruments by the two sides, while Yiyang Ancient Stage, has three entances and three exists with musican playing in the middle, forming the shape of Chinese character"ao"(凹), which can never be seen any other places. There were great many ancient stages built in different villeges, and they are preserved in Wanli, Fangdun, Mashan , Dongxian, Yaofan, Shangtong, Xitong, Gujia, Shashan Street and so on today.Yiyang ancient stage is a valuable cultural heritage of China, a carrier of local opera and studying local culture. Moreover, it is a living fossil to study architecture in Jiangxi Province. The conservation programme to Yiyang ancient stage should not rest on simple reparing, it needs to carry forward and develops its value, then this precious cultural heritage could pass through on generation to another.
