On Zhou Dunyi's Doctrine Of Honesty

"Honesty" is the core conception of Confucianism thought,It is given Philosophical Ontology significance by Confucianism, and is the bridge of linking natural laws(tian dao)with humanity(ren dao). The Northern Song Dynasty thinkers Zhou Dunyi made answer, about the connotation of "Honesty" for natural laws ,the reasons for humanism "Honesty" with the nature of natural laws,and "Honesty" embodies the relation for linking Heaven and man.He absorbs in Buddhism thoughts and Taoist school thoughts,analyzes "Honesty"by the traditional "tai ji".He thinks "Honesty" is "tai ji". "tai ji" is the universe of things ontology,that is "Honesty" is ontology,It make the ontology of "Honesty" having the specific meaning.But the ontology of "Honesty" needs to embody in all things, that "Honesty" embodies in mankind society by specific moral norm "mediocrity,genuine,benevolence and righteousness", So as the same as moral "Honesty" to be established has the nature of tian dao. In order to achieve a unity between heaven and humanity, That needs to practice "Honesty". As a result, Zhou Dunyi with "Honesty" to as centre, have noumenon to be useful, set up honesty shape study the ideological system, establish the metaphysics foundation for Confucianism moral, break Neo-Confucianismism house so-called hole meng and them Confucianism orthodoxy dim in unique millennium, structure basic frame for new Confucianismist development after Song and Ming dynasty. This paper studies and discusses Zhou Dunyi's "Honesty" thought from three part.The first part of paper analyses Zhou Dunyi's "Honesty" ideology of the times and the theoretical background, and the effect of Taoism and Buddhism, as well as Confucianism for his careers;The second part of paper discusses Zhou Dunyi's basic thoughts on doctrine of Honesty from three aspects, the ontological foundation of "Honesty"; the existence way of "Honesty"; the means of realization of "sincerity". The third part of paper main evaluates the contribution of his thoughts on Confucianism thought, today's society and future generations. By analyzing and discussing these thought to illustrate the value of Zhou Dunyi's "Honesty" thought.
