On The "Daily Life" Narration In China's Contemporary Literature In The 21^st Century

Daily life is the foundation of people's living, and has significant meaning to society and culture. Serving as a basic and comprehensive function in society, daily life closely relates to politics, economy, culture, custom, mentality, tradition, etc. Therefore "daily life" narration can effectively describe people's living and reveal the essence of life. Nevertheless, in China, in the pursuing of modernity in the 20^th century, daily life was restrained, criticized, and reconstructed by the politics. In a long period in China's contemporary literature, the mainstream was the narration of the state affairs, and the "daily life" narration was pushed aside.In the 21^st century in China, daily life becomes a vital factor which can powerfully influence economy, culture as well as people's life. Hereby "daily life" narration gains significance in novels and short stories in the 21^st century. To some extent, our time has already become a time of "daily life". Being a solid foundation and a powerful infiltration in society, daily life widely affects people's living condition in many aspects such as wealth, culture and spirit. Because of the situation stated above, today, "daily life" narration becomes an essential mode in China's literature. Accordingly, nowadays, there is a complicated, multilayer relationship between novels, short stories and the "daily life" narration. From the above we can know that it is practically and theoretically significant to make a comprehensive research on the "daily life" narration in China's contemporary literature in the 21^st century.This thesis mainly consists of four sections. The first section reviews the conclusions and research directions made by other scholars. The second section analyses the two types of "daily life" narration: one attaches importance to aesthetic and spirit; the other superficially imitates the external life. The third section of the thesis explores the narrative rhetoric in the "daily life" narration, and deduces three characteristics of the narrative rhetoric. The forth section discusses the standpoint and the pursuing of spirit in the "daily life" narration.
