The Ebb And Flow Of Independence And Combination Awareness

Since the end of the Second World War, Japanese modern fashion design has achieved astonishing accomplishment, and formed its modern style which kept the continuity of its dressing culture, and exhibited its unique features on the international stage. Its way of development should be regarded undoubtedly as one of our examples. Although the Japanese modern fashion design experienced ups and downs during its development, in general it can be divided into three periods, western fashion style and value in domination as the first period ; anti-western fashion tradition and modern meaning of national culture showing as the second period; and directly reflecting world fashion culture as the third period. This thesis combines the background of industry, economy and culture of these three periods, indicates the change of its whole idea of design and of its design style under the instruction of this design idea, and reveals its general way of development and the temporary trend. The relationship between its 1980's success and the independent design idea, and the internal culture history is discussed. Corresponding to the popularity of the combination awareness in the globalizing time since the new era, the importance and probability of the independent and combination awareness is indispensable to the national fashion design evolution, and deduced from this independence and combination are the two indispensable two aspects of the construction of the modern fashion design. The relationship between its 1980's success and the independent design idea, and the internal culture history is discussed. The general situation of the global combination awareness since new century is analyzed. And the irreplaceable importance and possibility of the awareness of independence and combination to the development of national fashion is concluded. Upon that, it is deduced that independence and combination are two indispensable aspects to the main ideas of the modern fashion design.
