A Preliminary Investigation Into The Jincheng Dialect

Jincheng is in the southeast of Shanxi Province. In the《Chinese Language Atlas》, Jincheng dialect belongs to the HanXin part of Jin language, which has the general characters of Jin languages. But it also has some differences from Jin languages. The dialect of Zhongjiazhuang, Jincheng city, is the investigated subject of this thesis. The thesis described the phonetic system and phonetic characteristics comprehensively, and collected some special words.On the phonology, this thesis introduced the phonology and its features comprehensively. It also carefully analyzed the characteristics of pronunciation phenomenon, for example: tone sandi, read-difference, erhua and rusheng. In the aspect of Tone sandi, this thesis summaried the rules and characteristics of two words tone sandi. In the aspect of read-difference, this thesis induced the situation of read difference from two aspects, initial and final. The thesis also analyzed erhua from phonetic, word construction and so on. It emphasized the main characteristics of erhua words. Rusheng of Jincheng dialect is very complex, so the thesis described it detailly, analyzed earnestly rusheng from three aspects, rusheng actual situation, rusheng [?]'s development and the tone change of quanzhuo initial rusheng.On the vocabulary, this thesis mainly showed some special words with suitable explanations.
