Clothing & Ornaments, a necessary element for man's living, is one of marks for human's civilization. It represents a kind of culture in a certain period and reflects the productions of materials and thoughts besides meeting the needs of material living. Through the change of Clothing & Ornaments, the development of history, economy and culture can be shown clearly. The Chinese Clothing & Ornaments have experiences successions, developments and innovations of years of thousands and now demonstrates a colorful appearance. Thus the history of Clothing & Ornaments is a composing part that cannot be ignored in a history of a nation.This paper, centred on the court clothing & ornaments, on the basis of the archaeological and literary material, elaborates the developmental history and transformation of court clothing & ornaments in Qing Dynasty and introduces in details the clothing & ornaments of king, queen, their sons and court officials. From aspects of the style, color, ornaments, design to the clothing and ornaments of different classes, the cultural symbol and internal element of transformation of clothing and ornaments is analyzed to see the ebb and flow of the Qing Dynasty and put an emphasis on the elaboration of the influence of Qing Dynasty's clothing and ornaments on the modern ones including cheongsam and Tang suit. Qing Dynasty, the last one of feudalism, its establishment, ebb, flow and extinction contributes to the change of the style of the Chinese clothing and ornaments. The clothing and ornaments of Qing Dynasty is the most complex, and the strictest system of class in Chinese history, so there is great historical and realistic significance in the research of clothing and ornaments of Qing Dynasty.Through the research of court clothing and ornaments of Qing Dynasty, the highest development in spinning and embroidery in Qing Dynasty can be seen. The choice of embroidery and silks and other material of upper class and rich people possesses a character of rich color, clear feature and noble quality. There are rich kinds and fine crafts in the ornaments. Seen from the history of Qing Dynatsy, its clothing and ornaments is not only a distinction from that of other people, but also a combination with that of other people. Thus it is a unique cultural production of Qing Dynasty.In the history, all the peoples decorate themselves with certain clothing and ornaments. Manchu is not an exception. But the court clothing and ornaments of Qing Dynasty not only represents the symbol of people's character, but as a system of clothing, also develops a distinctive angle in the Chinese history.
