On Packaging Design Of Nan Yue Nationality In Qin And Han Dynasties

Nanyue Country is the important national minority political power inthe South in Qin and Han dynasties of China. Although it exists no longerthan 100 years, it is one of important pages of Lingnan history. Becauseof its special geography, the package design is affected by southeastminority and Han nationality. Nanyue Nationality has long history, andpackage design appears in the work and life as material cultural remainingand plays huge function. The early literature about Nanyue or Lingnan ismostly focused on the history and folk-custom, or collection and collationof archeological records. There is not much systematic research from theaspect of package design. The systematic conclusion is also lacked to thedesign characters and spirit connotations of these packages.The point of view of this research is set to the package design inLingnan in Qin and Han Dynasties from Nanyue Nationality. This articleelaborates the development of Lingnan package, design characteristic andforming reason, through the culture background of Nanyue nationalityand the blending of Nanyue culture between Han or Chu culture.Firstly, the related knowledge about ancient package and NanyueNationality is introduced briefly. Secondly, three aspects of externalcircumstances are discussed. They are the Lingnan geography, Lingnanculture affected by geography, and Lingnan nationality development. The discussing is cataloged by the package material: pottery package, bronzepackage, lacquer package, jade package, textile package, other materialpackage. Based on that, a thorough research is emphasized to sculpt anddecoration of package design. Last, the affection on package by thecommunion between Nanyue Nationality and Han or Chu culture isconcluded and summarized, and the culture characteristic of NanyueNationality package and value orientation is upgraded.
