The existence of genre film is an objective phenomenon. Genre film establishes and respects the social main values and the public psychology, which is with the similarity and modality in the content, narration, visual representation and so on. As the result of commercialization, with the promotion of the commercial profits, genre film keeps satisfying people's aesthetic needs to some kind of classic film works. At the same time, genre film is significant to the marketization of film industry, which makes genre film a tendency of film developing. The road movie is a special production of American culture, which has been developed for over 40 years as a kind of genre film. Road movies are generated with the background of the modern industry in the 1950s and 1960s, the road is supposed to be the narrative carrier and context. Because of involving the sensitive topics, expressing the marginal people's life, using the alternative performance, as well as adopting the independent, revolutionary, rebellious and even subversive subjects to attack the unbalance in real life, road movies have greatly challenged the traditional commercial films. Using the Content Analysis of the Communication Theories, combining the producing background of road movies and analyzing the American genre film and the classic road movies, this thesis indicates the significance of genre film carrying and spreading the social culture. Meanwhile, borrowing ideas from the excellent abroad movies, developing genre film, changing the moralistic creating conception, forming a unique creating way with the culture in film making, which are positive for Chinese movie developing and prosperity achieving in film industry. |
