Musical instruments are dazzling jewelry in the musical treasury of human being. China musical instruments are characterized with profound history, diverse diversity, brilliant sound all these demonstrate the unique historical background, artistic charm and cultural taste of Asian people in the musical instruments of the world. The research on the China musical instruments is attracting more and more attention from the international musicians and scholars.Our ancient classical document said,"Spiritual things that have no shape are named"Dao (Way)", Material things that can be felt are named"Qi (Utensil)", the combination of the two, i.e. the shapeless thinking and the material, will produce various changes of the world, hence the"changes". Which is proved as reasonable in the presence and developing of musical instruments. Static instruments belong to matters, dynamic intruments belong to ideology of human being. The historical developing of musical intruments sustaining and creative.Musical instruments develop with the time. Instruments of different ages is restrict by social productivity, which is embodied with the characteristics of changing in aesthetic appreciating, swing conformation, timbre pursuing. At the same time, musical instruments have more cultural property, which were used in solemn sacrifice spots, royal palaces. Therefore, research on the development of China musical instruments should include historical and cultural aspects respectively. The slight difference between historical and cultural property of musical instruments is embodied with changing and unchangeableness.According to musicologist Mr. Huang Xiangpeng's by stages theory, the music form of ancient China can be defined as three categories: music and dance represented by bell music in ancient times; song and dance skill in mediaeval times; folk music represented by opera music in modern times. Shapes of instruments belong to one of important parts in musical forms. In the meanwhile, there were three different categories in musical instruments: octosyllabic intruments represented by bell music in ancient times; ancient China and Middle East musical intruments co-existing in mediaeval times; folk music intruments in modern times. All these categories of musical intruments of the three time show different charateristic. This article focuses on making the history of musical intruments developing clear and coming to conclusion the understanding of it. It is difficult to research the cultural characteristics of China musical intruments isolatedly and staticly. At the same time, musical intruments and intruments music have close internal relationship. Apart from the relationship between musical instruments and cultural contents, it is also difficult to explaining the developing history of musical intruments. Hence, relying on the corelation of musical intruments and intruments music, the article will probe into the history developing of three categories of musical intruments in ancient China and find out the extrinsic and intrinsic fators of them.The creativity and difficulty are coexisting all through this thesis. This article will discuss the proposition for the first time ever, and there is certain value for researching on the musical intruments categories and music forms. Meanwhile, combining the research methods of philology, archeology will be more pursuadable in making clear the developing history of China musical intruments. Some researches of former scholars on musical intruments provide valuable reference and background knowledge as well.
