Moderate "Anti-colonial Consciousness"

Macao has undergone the change of colonial history for one century, west and east traditional art deeply impacted development of Macao art. On contemporary social and historical background, the collision between west and east art, traditional and contemporary art, promote the formation of a unique art style of Macao art, and reflect the conflict and integration between colonial consciousness and anti-colonial consciousness, traditional concept and modern concept.This thesis focuses on researching the artworks and art activities of Chineseartists of Macao, and analyzes inner meaning and character of moderate "anti-colonial consciousness" in Macao contemporary art, and "New Orientalism" on behalf of the consciousness. This thesis think that "anti-colonial consciousness" of Macao contemporary artworks is represented by application of traditional Chinese elements and manifestation of Chinese traditional concept. In the international background, the art conception and creation of Macao contemporary art with strong Oriental national character is helpful to development of Macao contemporary art.
