Walter Benjamin (1892-1940), is a famous western philosopher and thinker, and his thoughts were profound and complicated. He made himself well-known in the fields of philosophy, history, language, literature and art. The study on the modernity of arts is the most important aspects of Benjamin's latter period of study, and one of his results was the theory about "Aura". The Chinese scholars become to pay more attention to the knowledge about Benjamin's "aura" with the publishing and translating of his works.This thesis tries to begin with the concept of Benjamin's "aura" and then discusses this question from two ways. On one hand, we analysis the background of Benjamin's auratic art and the influent factors. On the other hand, discusses the linguistic meaning, esthetic meaning and the influence of these thoughts so as to get an overall understanding about Benjamin's theory.This thesis includes four parts:First, present the birth of the concept of "aura", which absorbs the different thoughts of different scholars.Second, analysis the linguistic and esthetic meaning of concept of "aura" from the point of the relationship between this concept and technology.Third, because the altitude of Benjamin towards "aura" is different, so the meaning of the auratic art is complicated either.Fourth, although the concept of "aura" is new and foreseeing, there are still some insufficient about this viewpoint. From the analyzing, we can have a deep understanding about Benjamin's idea.
