At present, the professionals in the education field and in the management field have more or less reached an agreement that the managerial practice of professional music education is distinct from general management or general music education. However up till now there has never been elucidation of the theories on the distinctive characteristics of managerial practice of professional music education, on the coordination between management and music education, on the development of the practice under theoretical guidance, and on the construction of scientific theory. Therefore this thesis is about to analyze and demonstrate some managerial practices and theories of music education.The thesis will start with the necessity and possibility of establishing management of professional music education and display the importance and urgency of setting up the discipline by expounding in the background, the fundamentals, the system and the meaning of doing so.The suggestion of establishing management of professional music education is the result of decentralization of modern educational science, of the logical evolution of educational management, and of the objective demand of modern cultural development. To some extent, professional music education with fast sustainable development and prosperity will never happen without highly developed, advanced and good quality management of professional music education. Therefore it is strategically important and compatible with the objective rules of social development to carry out professional theoretical studies on the management of professional music education.Some common educational practices, with "improving the quality of education and the efficacy of management" being the core, are certainly applicable to the professional music education, an organic component of education. Therefore, there are some common and interconnected managerial ideas and principles between the management of professional music education and educational management, and we accordingly must base our studies about the distinctiveness of the management of professional music education on the general rules of general education.
