Study On The Theory Of The MacIntyre's Personality

Stand on the famous book After Virtue, this research is focused on the MacIntyre's theory of personality.One of the fundamental problem modern people faced with is the omission of moral ethics. Aware of this problem, MacIntyre proposed the theory of personality, which is considered as an alternative to our present ethics idea.This research consists of four main parts:The first part analyses of the shortcomings of the modern social ethics and the inevitable failure of the Enlightenment.The second part traces back to the whole process of MacIntyre's construction of his theory, how he synthesizes the ideas of virtues in Aristotle to the concepts of modern sciences and reason.The third part presents the main ideas of the MacIntyre's theory of personality. The most important idea is the training method of the Perfected Personality. In this method, MacIntyre advocates the practice, the narrative unity of a life, and the tradition.The last part is mainly a critical re-examination of MacIntyre's theory of personality to discover its feasibility and its applied values.
