West Xia controlled the Silk Road——a channel from the south area of Yellow River to the western world after it seized the Gansu Corridor in first halves of 11 century. West Xia then made full use of the opportunity to launch exchange in politics, economic and culture with the surrounding various nationalities. This action promoted economic and culture development greatly.During the West Xia period, the transportation network was formed in domestic, and its center is Xingqing office. Besides the Silk Road, West Xia also expended many roads to other countries such as Song, Liao and Jin. All these roads provided important conditions for West Xia to launch large-scale commercial trade. The raising livestock economy is unitary in West Xia, so its must carry on the commercial intercourse with the peripheral nationalities to satisfy domestic need to the agricultural product and necessities. There are a lot of the trade policy of West Xia in the"New low made in Tian Sheng year", especially the commercial preferential policy to Xizhou and Dashi, which reflected that West Xia paid great attention on the Silk Road trade. West Xia coin have massively found in Yinchuan, Ningxia, He Tao area, Inner Mongolia, Lanzhou and Hexi area, Gansu, which further verified West Xia's commercial trade with Song, Liao, Jin and the countries in West Region.The Silk Road also provided convenient condition for the cultural exchange between West Xia and peripheral nationalities, especially the communication of Buddhism. The Buddhism is prosperous during West Xia period. So it launched great exchange with Song, Liao, Jin, India Uighurt and Tibet. The eminent monk in West Xia once had no fear of great distances, instead, they went to the Indian to study Buddhist doctrine, and take the Daoist scripture. The eminent monks in Indian also were invited to visit West Xia to preach the view. Jayānanda not only held the post of the monk duty in West Xia, but also was sealed as the country teacher. He was engaged in the Buddhist literature translation positively. West Xia once borrowed"Buddhist scriptures"from Song Dynasty for six times. It also invited eminent monks in Huihe, Han, Tufan and India. It took West Xia 53 years to complete the translation of Buddhist scriptures in West Xia language. The Buddhism culture in West Xia obtained the rapid development through the exchange with peripheral nationalities.
