Tie Ning is a female writer with her own style in the literary circle. During more than 20 years writing, her novels have gradually changed in such aspects as creating thoughts, contents, feelings and literary style. Her original works are characterized by clarity, brevity because of her devotion to human emotion and human nature's beaty. Later on, her works have turned its style into profundity and solemnity because her richer experiences lead her greater attention to more profound problems, more complicated human nature and the social status of women's life in the world. In 2005, she puts her interests in national history and presents history in a new perspective, which arouses greater attention in the public. In chronological order, this paper tries to organize the developing process of novel writing by Tie Ning in terms of her creating thoughts and writing techniques. And the further discussion is made on relation between the change and Chinese characters.The paper is divided into four parts to discuss the development of her novel writing. Part one focuses on her original novels. In this stage, greatly influenced by Sun Li's Hehuadian School of literary works, she sings great praises of female significance in the world by means of the creating skills of lyric novels, poetic language and the writing styles of lyric prose to expose the virtues of humanity. Part two centers on her works in mid-1980s. Her creating style has changed from the clarity, brevity and beauty in the early period to the profundity and solemnity of this period. This change results from her further consideration of complex problems on human nature. In the works: Sanduo( Three Stacks) , his masterpiece of this period, by means of allegorical methods of symbolic novels, she attempts to make a profound analysis of the historical and cultural reasons for female tragedy in life and criticize the social tradition with male-centered culture. Part three tries to focus on the works at the turn of 1980s and 1990s. Literary criticism of female literature contributes to her greater attention to social status of women. She admires female self-awareness and approves female struggles against male-centered society. She examines the female weaknesses carefully and well-composedly to hope that all women can become spiritually independent and go on their own way to grow and rescue themselves. Artistically, she begins to change his aesthetic views, that is, from her early appreciation of beauty to the exposition and identification of female weaknesses in this period, in order to realize the close and well-composed examination and criticism of existential female weakness. Part four concentrates on the discussion of her realistic trend in writing in 2005. With the repeated appearance of "epic-style" novels, Tie Ning follows closely the main theme of the times and then creates Ben Hua, his current masterpiece. In the novel, her combination of grand narration and everyday narration brings about a particular perspective of narration to restore an unforgettable period of national history. The restoration enhances our special national spirits among common people. |
