The Research On The Kinship Terms Of Chaozhou Dialect

The kinship terms are the reflections on the language in kinship system, which in a simple form of words reflect the complexity of the kinship system. Studying the kinship terms has a dual significance in linguistics and culture. This paper makes some survey and research on the Chaozhou Dialect's kinship terms by the means of description, analysis, comparison. And it consists of the following three parts.Firstly, with surveying the eight points of the kinship terms in Chaozhou Dialect, we do a comprehensive and systematic description of the kinship terms in Chaozhou Dialect in three aspects: clansmen, maternal relatives and kinsmen by affinity, and sum up some characteristics of Chaozhou Dialect's kinship terms in word- formation, phonetics, and pragmatics.Secondly, by comparing with the kinship terms of Xiamen Dialect, we analyze the similarities and differences between the kinship terms of Chaozhou Dialect and the kinship terms of Xiamen Dialect, and then try to explore the reasons in culture, language contacting, and language dividing and so on.Finally, through the comparison, we further indicate the characteristics of Chaozhou Dialect's kinship terms, and reveal the theoretical value of it.
