Along with the advance in technology development, Mathematical estimation gains more and more attention in the academic world both in China and abroad. Estimation mainly includes computational estimation, measurement estimation and quantitative estimation and so on. The domestic and foreign researchers have conducted a series of researches of estimation, and has yielded some conclusions. The researchers in this field have pointed out that estimation is a kind of universal existence ability. But at present, the conclusions of different researches are different and now there are some problems which should be further discussed. And the relationship between metacognition and estimation is not clear.Estimate tasks are independently designed by the author, which are used to test 547 junior middle school students in Grade1, 2 and 3. We aim to inspect investigate the junior middle school students'estimated ability and what can influence it. What is more, we used the questionnaire of metacognition to examine the relationship between metacognition and estimation. Dates were analysised by SPSS12.0. The results were concluded as follows:1 The middle school students'estimation ability is low.2 Grade affects the estimation ability.3 Gender has remarkable influence to the estimate; male remarkably is higher than the female student.4 Metacognition and estimation ability show remarkable correlation.
