Modern mathematics education is confronted with great challenge. Computational estimation adapts to the change about desire for computation in new times. Introducing computational estimation into mathematics education causes some new problem. At the same time, it also offers a new perspective for us to reveal the regularity of individual's cognitive development. Thus a research about primary school children's computational estimation is very important in theory and in practice.Seeing that those problems in earlier researches, this dissertation investigated some aspects of primary school children's computational estimation competence, such as the status quo, developmental regularity, external and internal factors, et al. Furthermore, the process of individual's computational estimation was inquired and some theoretical considerations and practical suggestions for instruction in arithmetic were provided.In this research, it was found that primary school children had the same laws as other groups in computational estimation, and also had the special ones. Under the conditions of this investigation, some conclusions were draws as follows: (1) Compared with numeric computation estimation and figured computation estimation, we found that the first grade children had grasped the conception of numbers. The obvious difference was found between numeric computation estimation and the figured computation estimation in them, and the numeric computation was better than the other. (2) The computation estimation competence had intimate correlate with remediation competence, they had the obvious positive correlate. (3) The fourth grade children had a strong effect with "anchoring effect" in computation estimation, and the children tend to get conservative estimation in multiplicative factorial computation estimation, the answers were much smaller than the exact one. (4) The pure numeric questions got the better result Compared with the applied questions for removing the background factors.In conclusion, the primary children had gotten some computation estimation competence. The child computation estimation competence is the important aspect of the mathematic competence; to nurture their computation estimation competence is the essential content in mathematic education.
