| The Cultural Revolution is an important event in the last 20th century in China. And there are many works about it in contemporary literature. Narrating of the Cultural Revolution is not only a duty of society for the writers, but also a kind of require for their art and spirit pursuing. At the some time, how authors telling the story of the Cultural Revolution will affect readers' judgment for the history. In this thesis, I will take the description of the Cultural Revolution by contemporary writers as research object, talking about the condition and characteristics of their creations, and analyzing the changing process of it.This thesis is totally divided into three sections in proper order, elaborating how the Returnee, the Knowledge Youth and the Vanguard understanding the Cultural Revolution.Chapter one shows the memory and thinking of history of the Returnee. By checking against the difference from the May- 4th, it describes the characteristics of creation of the Returnee, and their impression of the calamity which is the disaster of a whole nation, not only the intelligentsia but also the common man suffered greatly in the Cultural Revolution.Chapter two is concerning about the Knowledge Youth. They are the generation of awakenings, and also the generation of self-contradict. On one hand, they plunge into the recall of the youth years; On the other hand, they display the Cultural Revolution which bought them of great painful. In this chapter, writers express their attitudes and viewpoints of the Cultural Revolution from several angles.Chapter three elaborates how the Vanguard having the tale of the Cultural Revolution. The Vanguard overthrow the narration of the elder. Some of them clear up all the traditional values, and the others directly reconstruct history from their fantastic experience of childhood in the Cultural Revolution. While with the attitude of overthrowing all, the Vanguard also' look for something of spirit to rely on in the description. |
