Mayi defense system was an important link in the north in Qin and Han Dynasty. It was the outpost of the war to Xiongnu and had an important military position. This paper will first push the traditional documentation and archaeological data and the wild field exploration to fill in the basic geographical history, military history, economic geography and cultural feature for a comprehensive study of Mayi, to restore the historical landscape of Mayi in that times and reveal its important military position.Mayi in Qin and Han Dynasty is in Shuozhou City, Shanxi Province.
