Francis Bacon is a great scientist and thinker across centuries, and at the same time, he is a pious Christian. He lived between 16th and 17th century, and he is the forefather of the modern experimental science and one of the founders of modern scientific methodology. This thesis aims at the analysis for his rationalism and Christianity in his essays. Through the analysis of the essays, Bacon's basic methods of logic are revealed which reflect his rationalism and the appearance and development of his rationalism in this world are also introduced. At the same time, this thesis analyzes Christianity in Bacon's essays and expounds the compatibility of Christianity and his rationalism. Finally, it is concluded through analysis that Bacon's rationalism appears in the rational times which developed from the Christian theology in the middle Ages, and his Christianity guarantees the exertion and development of his rationalism: his rationalism ensures the appearance of the modern science.
