The Problem Of Eidos In Philebus

This article hopes to expand the problem of eidos in Philebus in the tradition of Plato's unwritten doctrines .It considers that Philebus actually concerns with the problem of eidos :beginning with the discussing the real conformation of the problem of eidos ,the reconstruction of the problem of eidos in dialectics, and on the clue eidos is number in the unwritten doctrine, the consistency of analysis of eidos and the theory of measure ,at last, the questioning on the principle of the eidos . Philebus makes up of the whole of meaning about the problem of eidos. The article first with the indirect proving of text contact between the unwritten doctrine and Philebus, sets up the possibility of the explanation of Philebus with the unwritten doctrine and briefly explains the matter of the unwritten doctrine. And that the article with clarifying the appearance of the eidos in the Greek tradition , tries to prove that the eidos has the meaning of number, and the whole development of the Greek philosophy can but represent in the formal prescription eidos is number. Number is the expression form of the meaning of eidos. In virtue of these review, the problem of eidos in Philebus manifests like these: the real conformation of the problem of eidos is the problem of number in the one and many. And the dialectics brings forth the forms of the number in the one and many. On this premise eidos as number, functions as the measure of construction of essence in the being of things and this function of the measure ,could show out the principle the meaning of the eide——the eidos of good. The Philebus therefore is the dialogue about the conformation , the deploying , the ontological function and the meaning principle of the eide.
