France and Germany are the most important countries on the European continent. Several centuries, diplomatic options of the two countries affected the situation in Europe. Historically, Bosmarck, William II, Napoleon and Hitler, had tried to establish the hegemony of the European continent, these dominant war not only brought disaster to the people of Europe, but casted a shadow over relation between France and Germany, the results of these dominant war had ended in failure. After the end of World War II, with the advent of the Cold War, a 75 years hostile relation between France and Germany thawed, which had had a significant impact on France, Germany, Europe and the world. In the Cold War environment, the choice of reconciliation path between France and Germany are based on the accurate role location, after the two countries deeply estimating the outside role expectation and clearly crystallizing role self-cognition. In 1963, France and Germany signed the "the treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between France and Germany", which marked their full reconciliation. After the Cold War, the international situation had changed; if reconciliation and cooperation between France and Germany formatted in the Cold War will continue, analyzing their external environment, the author think that France and Germany will continue to maintain cooperation. Facing Germany growing strength, France is formidable, which will be a key factor affecting future bilateral cooperation.There are three parts in the paper: The first part is a review of the relations between France and Germany which from reconciled to cooperate in history, Analyzing the cause of the forming of the Franco-German Axis after the World Warâ…¡. First the leaders get the same understanding in the situation of Europe. They will have a big loss if they're still enemy hands. The second, Germany took defeated nation in politics weakness, caused France to be willing to form the close alliance with it. They has formed "not the equal equality" this special phenomenon. Finally, France and Germany in postwar all need to develop themselves through the European integration; this also causes both sides unceasingly to penetrate this on tacit understanding at the advancement integration. The remarkable characteristic of the relations of France and Germany is, Germany with exercises forbearance to France's obeying, in major issue support French's decision firmly.In the second part: Both France and Germany try to carry on the significant adjustment to diplomatic strategy for the transformation of international system after the cold war. These two countries took all the reinforcement of the France-German relation of co-operation, promotion of the level of European integration and enlargement of the European Union as the base and the point of their national diplomatic strategy of cold post-war, on which France and Germany has realized to seek and develop the mutltipolarisation in the international political system. The commons in their strategic which made it possible these two countries to maintain their co-operation close and friendly. Of course the drastic change of the world and European strength structure, also gave the France and Germany relations some impact, stimulated some contradiction between them, caused the bilateral quarrel and the competition in public day by day. However the common on the strategy benefit had decided the cooperation was essential in their relation. Compromises and cooperation are the feature of France-Germany relation.The third part is the Reasons of Cooperation and Conflict between France and German. At the first, France-German has established a regular communicate regime which made both of countries to reach a common understanding about their destiny, and even brought a moral self-restraint to two countries. They will put the collective interest on the primary position when France-German made some plan for European integration. Secondly, during the Cold-War era, France-German has already developed a self-identity and collative identity, and also because of this, their relations did not broken when they have some contradictions in the struggle. Thirdly, European integration became more and more ripely, and it restraint regime provided a framework for France-German. Any contradictions between two countries could resolved in this framework, and this also made two countries reach some kind of compromise after some arguments. At last, both of countries realized that cooperation can make they get more influence on the international affairs. So, both of two countries will never give up the effort to develop the European integration. Their cooperation relations will be extend in the future.But the collapse of Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, and also the reunion of the German brought negative impact to the France-German relations. German tried to seek the political influence that adapted its economical power. German began to readjust the relations with France. German's stronger will be the main cause of the impact to French interest after Cold-War.Conclusion: Some new problems become between France and Germany because of the changing of the world. But cooperation is still the main stream of France-German relation in the Post Cold War era. So, we should have positive attitude on the France-German as well as the EU's future development.
