| Kant's aesthetics and pre-Qin Confucian Aesthetics(This article is mainly involved in the Confucius and Mencius) are two different Kinds of aesthetic system. Despite a huge number of differences, there is a remarkable consistency between them. They are morally good as the ultimate goal of aesthetics. Kant judges "beauty as the symbol of morality", similarly Confucian aesthetics is full of symbolic thinking. Kant regards the nature as a teleological system, in which men with morality are the final purpose. The ideal of beauty can be only achieved on men who have morality. Pre-Qin Confucian Aesthetics also pay extreme attention to the cultivation of human beings. One path of thinking was used by both of them, which is that the concerning moves from beauty to good. When good comes true, when beauty also comes true. The beauty and the good will merge into one thing at last. Based on the consistency, the paper names the two aesthetics morality-trending aesthetics. This comparison, despite of very limited reference, is insisted still. That is because the comparison seems necessary at present time which sees the decline of ethics. Moore who opened a new but may not be a promising era, undid the traditional ethics and started meta-ethics. A trend of diversification is evident in every sphere of life ethic. Meanwhile Ethics has changed with a strong aesthetic taste. Nietzsche and Foucault insisted that the meaning of life could only be found in arts and Aesthetics. Ethics was removed in their views. Nietzsche was referred to be the beginning of post-modernism. Under the post-modern theoretical background, the relationship between aesthetics and ethics should be reconsidered. Can Aesthetics and ethics really completely separate from each other? Aesthetics can replace Ethics? Can freedom be achieved only on the strength of Aesthetics? These issues are discussed in this paper. The writer also dares to give a summary of morality-trending aesthetics. In fact, this paper contains all my interests and confusion during the three years, but the answer given is unsatisfactory obviously. If any suggestion is given, I will really appreciate that. |
