This text takes Taiwan's forest from the period of Japan-occupying up to now as the research object, and studies the development of Taiwan's forest and the environment change caused by forestry problems. The Taiwan's forestry obtained more and greatly development in the organization of the constitution, various forestations and protecting forestry in Japan-occupying. And the Taiwan's forest resources also suffered the most seriously trample in this period. In the early years of Recover, the Taiwa's forestry was in the position of instauration and adjustment of transition period. Because of the unsteady political situation and some other reasons, the forestry plan target had not been achieved ultimately. But it had certain positive effect on the later forestry development. The area of Taiwan's forestation is far larger than the cutting area in recent 50 years, and the forestry management direction takes on a trend of diversification, and the multi-function of the forestry can be embodied. But there still exist a lot of problems to be further perfected in the forestry management system. Inthe end, this article also discusses the change process of the forest ecosystem from the period of Japan-occupying up to now in the view of interaction between Taiwan's forestry development and the environmental change.Studying history is not only for the sake of understanding the past, but more important to provide a reference and guidance for the reality. Taiwan, as the best province in the rate of the forest overlaying in our country, owns quite considerable timber in large varieties. And the development experience in forest can give us some instructive references about the development of the forest industry for all the provinces including Taiwan.
