Research The Synonymy Of Monosyllabic Verbs In Hanfeizi

HanFeiZi is a very important book about Politics, philosophy and language, reflecting the features of ancient Chinese language in the Period of the Warring States. There are abundant language resources in HanFeiZi, which provide us with the comprehensive scope of the Chinese language before the Qin Dynasty, and the basis for study of the history of Chinese vocabulary as well. Synonym relation is a kind of special and important paradigmatic relation in vocabulary. Based on the existing achievements of research, ancient and current exegesis, texture criticisms and commentaries on Chinese synonyms, this thesis first employs scientific theories and methods of modern linguistics, lexicology and semantics to analyze and describe synonymous relation of monosyllabic verbs in HanFeiZi thoroughly. Then it goes on to illustrate and generalize the meanings of monosyllabic verbs, which have synonymous glossemes. The thesis is an important research on the structures of the synonyms, similarities and dissimilarities between glossemes, combination and collection in words, and the meaning extension of monosyllabic verbs in HanFeiZi. On the base of possibly exhaustive analysis of each Synonymous monosyllabic verb and its meaning, it attaches importance to synchronic synonymy of monosyllabic verbs in HanFeiZi. At the end, the thesis discusses the shaping-up ways of the synonyms of HanFeiZi. In the process of research, the thesis combines qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis, objective description with theoretic summary to achieve an objective and persuasive goal.
