A Study Of The Monosyllabic Synonym In Guoyu

Near decades, ancient Chinese synonym study have made progess no matter in theory or in practice and the special book synonym research, which is the preparation of the work to put synonym development history of ancient Chinese in order has become the new direction of this field. With the title of Chun qiu wai zhuan, guoyu is one part of important history records of Early Qin Dynasty, we selected it for our item mostly because of this. We hope the establishment of the relation of the synonym in guoyu can help us clarify the intricate relation between the synonym of the Early Qin Dynasty.This paper has an research on monosyllabic synonym in guoyu, including the conclusion of them and the discrimination of them.First of all, we read guoyu repeatedly, making every effort to look for the dominance and recessive clue from the text itself. What we call dominance clue is the information ,which is transmitted through the text such as tongyihuwen and lianwen. The recessive clue is the relationship of the words in the text. They are the main foundation of concluding the synonyms.Secondly, we utilized existing commentaries and relative materials to affirm synonymous relation. In order to ensure the correctness of the meaning, we have consulted not only the materials correlating with Guoyu but also Shuowenjiezi and other books.Moreover, we analyzed the meaning and morphological features of the synonyms to be decided, including analyzing the example in the text for the second time and deciding the meaning of the polysemant and getting rid of the near-synonym and the words which have different morphological features.At last, we selected 19 groups of synonyms, including verb adjective noun and adverb, looked for their difference all-sidely.After concrete analyzing of the synonyms in Guoyu, we chose from semanteme, grammar, language using three aspects to find their difference. Because the difference of ancient Chinese synonyms most in their meaning, so we think it is important to hold their meaning feature from language source, amplification series and antonyms. On thegrammar aspect, besides circulation of the word, we regard the ability of using flexibly of the word as a factor to differentiate and analyse. Language using, determined by the seniors and juniors idea of the society should become a parameter of disriminition and analyse of the ancient Chinese synonyms.
