A-lag-sha Ngag-dbang Bstan-dar Lha-rams-pa lived from the Middle of the 18thcentury to the beginning of the 19th century. He wrote a lot of Tibetan languagewritings. Among these, "The light of fine words: teaching the classics, debating andwriting" (Vchad rtsod rtsom gsum-gyi mam-gzheg legs-bshad nyin-byed snang-bazhes-bya-ba bzhugs-so) expounds on the three virtues that the wise man shoulddevelop: teaching, debating and writing. This thesis translates the whole text withexplanatory notes, and inquires into Ngag-dbang Bstan-dar's thought about writing.The preface of this paper introduces A-lag-sha Ngag-dbang Bstan-darLha-rams-pa's life and writings, as well as "The light of fine words" in particular. Inaddition, it expounds on the general situation in this field of the study of literature, theprocess and purpose of selecting this particular work and the importance of "Thelight of fine words".The first chapter contains the whole translation as well as 217 assembled notes.Using philology and historical knowledge about Buddhism.The second chapter concentrate on the third part of "The light of fine words"."The art of writing". Using the ancient Indian poet Danding's "Mirror of poetry"(Snyan-ngag Me-long) and the viewpoints of learned Mongolian lamas of the time.It sheds light on this work's discussion of the necessary conditions for writing a goodwork, the classification of literary works and the rules of writing. In addition itsystematically examines Ngag-dbang Bstan-dar's thought on the art of writing fromthe viewpoint of literary theory.The conclusion summarizes the result of the research and concisely presentstopics for further research.
