An Analysis Of Wei Yingwu's Personality And The Influence On His Poetry

Wei Yingwu is an important poet during mid-Tang Dynasty, his poetry is always famous for dilute and gentle. With a simple, idle and elegant poetic style, he was long ranked with Tao Yuanming, Wang Wei, Meng Haoran and Liu Zongyuan. This article mainly analyzes his unique personality together with his life story, because the poet's unique life experience as well as the mid-Tang's special social background, all these cast on poet's unique characteristic.Based on the study of excavated epitaphs of Tang dynasty and other materials, such as poetry and prose, this paper makes an exhaustive research on characters of Wei Yingwu. This paper will deal with it from four aspects expounds the origin of Wei Yingwu's personality from the aspects of social background, personal factor.He is a man who cherish his relationship with others. He has affections for everybody. He wrote many poems to satirize the state affairs or to show his sympathy for the working people. In artistic conception, Wei Yingwu's poetry is often mournful.The content shown in Wei Yingwu's poems contains not only deep consideration and incisive criticism to the turbulent society. His poems shows his upright personality and noble integrity. True disposition has been show in his poems. The artistic style of Wei yingwu's poems, which is summarized as diluted and gentle one. However, his subjective style of diluteness and gentleness is also accompanied by solitude.He has great longing and hot pursuit for the natural and unadorned character. He is pure and simple. He is frank, honest, take things as they come, peaceful, pure-hearted, social background.As an important poet during the turn of the full Tang and Middle Tang, Wei Yingwu has been generally identified as "has a style of his own". And his poetic style ,language art, structural art show his personality. His personality influenced his style and features of his poetry.The feature of his poems is just the same as his personality.
