| Nowadays more and more attention has been paid to people's daily behavior inproduct design, which made products with emotional satisfaction emerged in designfield. Developed countries have promoted a concept of emotional design in this fieldalready. The socalledemotional design refers to putting emotions in product design byvarious figures, colors and skin texture, etc. In this way, when people appreciate or useparticular product, they will associate it with something else to have a kind ofresonance and get satisfaction both in minds and emotions. Here products combinepeople's emotions and inner wishes together. In short, emotional design has become animportant aspect in industrial design.Because of the importance of emotion in design, this article firstly gets the accesshuman emotions by analyzing the emotionalization trend in industrial design, andthen describes empathy and its usage in product design. About empathy, this articlefirstly analyzes two levels of meaning? then gets the way that people grasp emotion andfigure, i.e. sense of figure by the relations between these two? then injects schema intothis relations through explaining the concept, characters, kickoffmode andcontemporary development on this theory and the functions of schema? and thenfigures out empathy process by schema shooting theory of Gombrich, and takes thistheory as a base to discuss the influences of schema to empathy on product design, andconstructs the product design process based on schema. At last, this article is endedwith a design case by the writer to illustrate the usage of empathy design method basedon schema.By taking empathy as a breakthrough point, this article hopes to describe andexplain elementarily the characters and principles of empathy applied to productdesign, so that some regular patterns or methods can be found to provide productdesigners some meaningful reference and inspiration in the future. |
