The function word is difficulty and key in the Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. This article takes Vietnamese foreign students in primary, middle advanced level as research object, observing their errors when they study Chinese function words"dao","que"and"dan". Their errors mainly displays in three aspects ,the syntax,the semantics and the pragmatics. Therefore, we utilize the Three-dimension theory for grammatical studies and the contrast analysis method ,in order to comprehensively inspect their syntax position, the basic grammatical meaning and the semantic direction, the pragmatics function, and compare the differences between these function words ,analyze semantic condition in which the three function words may mutually exchange. These conclusions will be advantageous to Teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Chapter one introduces the selected topic reasons, the progress and existing problems of studies of function words, the methods of studies, the origin of Language materials and the significance and value of this article.Chapter two mainly analyzes the using situation of function words"dao","que"and"dan"based on the Three-dimension theory and induces the categories of Vietnamese foreign students'errors on the use of those function words.One the one hand, we attempt to utilize the Three-dimension theory for grammatical studies to comprehensively inspect their syntax position, the basic grammatical meaning and the semantic direction, the pragmatics function. In the syntax aspect, we inspected three function words′ability of connecting the syntax ingredients of simple sentences. In the semantics aspect, we have further determine the basic grammatical meanings of these three function words, the semantic direction, meaning while, we point out the conditions in which the three function words may mutually exchange. In the pragmatics aspect, we mainly analyze the supposition of these three function words, the position of focus in sentence, the objective of function words.On the other hand, we introduce the categories of Vietnamese foreign students'errors on the use of those function words. The first is the syntax error which includes mis-order of function words, omission of the clause subject When the function words using in the duplicate sentences, the inappropriate altogether presence of function words; The second is semantics error which include missing, mis-adding, misuse; The third is pragmatics error which includes the errors in pragmatic supposition and errors in understanding the objective of function words.Chapter four mainly puts forward several proposals to the teaching of function words in Chinese as a foreign language.
