On Sayer Of Gua-Zhi-er

Gua-zhi-er, a collection of the folk song of the Ming dynasty, being recorded and compiled by Feng Meng-long, included 400 pieces of poems,and reflected the love life of the townsfolk. It was flourished at once when it rose in the Ming dynasty, and it was an important reference of the folklore studies. Sayer is an important concept to analysis poetry, folksong and so on. Most sayer of Gua-Zhi-er is vivid, and the way of saying is diversified. This thesis, then, will use some concepts and methods from narrative theory to analyze sayer and the mode of narrative of Gua-Zhi-er.Through analyses, we can find that the soliloquy, the dialogue, and the transition of sayer of Gua-Zhi-er can be interpreted by Stanzel's narrative situation ,which include mode ,person and perspective as well. There is a similarity between the mode of sayer of Chinese lyrics and the mode of Hesperian narrative theory.And we contend that by using the dialogue and soliloquy, Gua-Zhi-er has more complex feeling and more secular style than other folklore, and it has greater difference in continuum of narrative situation from other folklore.We also find Gua-Zhi-er itself has strong dramatic quality , and the sayer is often in some kind of dramatic situation. So analyzing this problem is very benefit for recognition the narrative quality of Chinese literature.This thesis consists of four parts: the introduction, the main text, the conclusion and the bibliography. The introduction introduces briefly the goal,significance and methods of this thesis, it also give more information about some research about this issue. The main text is divided into two chapters. The introducing the concept of sayer and some theory about it in the first part of the chapter one, underlies the latter'analysis of the figure of sayer in Gua-Zhi-er . The second part discusses mainly the type and character of sayer in Gua-Zhi-er. The second chapter mainly study on the saying way of Gua-Zhi-er.For explain the benefit of referencing to narrative theory to analyze Gua-Zhi-er, the last part of thesis add some new statement, and sum up its dramatic situation also.
