This thesis, taking as examples Waiting for Godot, Endgame, Krapp's Last Tape, Happy day's etc. Of Samuel Beckett, a typical writer of the Theatre of the Absurd, aims to analyse the special features of Beckett's dramatic situation through its comparison with the traditional dramatic situation and to study the emotional experience arising from such situation.It consists of three chapters: Chapter 1 provides a brief introduction to the traditional dramatic situation, more specifically, to the three representatives and their respective theories about Dramatic Situation, ie. Diderot's theory of relationship, Hegel's theory of specific environment and situation,Stanislavsky's theory of specified situation; Chapter 2 discusses the special features of Beckett's dramatic situation, ie.uncertainty, irrationality and symbolism; Chapter 3 analyses the forms of Beckett's dramatic situation, ie. Further separation and tragicomedy. |
