Without a doubt, Song Dynasty is the peak of Chinese classical culture,the scholars as the inheritor and disseminator of the culture, obtained the unprecedented value and the respect in Song Dynasty. Scholars status increased, spurring a strong improvement of education and developing cultural tastes as a whole within the scope of society. But in politics, the Song Dynasty is powerless in the face of bullying and yield to the northern nomad,making the sholars who always has the salvation spirit feel disappointed and painful. The mind is sorrowful, however,the spirit is infinitely free actually, this causes the sholars to keep far away from the dark political environment,maintaining the independence of personality, thus they maintain the condition of lives in seclusion from the psychological condition. The scholar-painting reflect the sholars' appeal and reveal the scholars'thought, therefore the painting of a scholar becomes the most effective tool which give vent to the resentful emotion in the heart. The scholar-painting's profound internal cause of the substantive characteristics is the painting's aesthetic value orientation, is deeply influenced by the Chinese environment,political ethics and tradition culture, therefore their art is upward, indomitable, strivesconstantly for self-improvement, the personality's influence has transcended the aesthetic boundary, becomes one kind of mind public statement and drives the spirit of Chinese forever.Most of the scholar-painting relevent books pay a high premium on sensibility and scheme research, yet I make every effort to investigate the birth of scholar-painting from the philosophical and aesthetical angle. This thesis based on Song Dynasty's time , politics and cultural background, taking the blending of Confucianist thought, Taoism thought and Buddhism thought as significant standard, and the construction of scholar-painting's theory as indispensable principle. Using the method of aesthetical category analysis, little by little, combs the theory which the Song Dynasty painting of scholar ,as well as its evolution trace. The first part of my thesis is to state the time background of the scholar-painting's emergence,including economic and social culture factors; The second part of my thesis is to discuss the influence of the blending of Confucianist thought, Taoism thought and Buddhism thought to the scholar-painting's theory,this is the important norm although this paper; The third part of my thesis is to enter feature-analysis, analysize the birth and improvement of the scholar-painting's style and its influence to the following era by researching the growth of scholar-painting's principal theory.Song Dynasty is the true source stage of scholar -painting theory, especially in the theorical creation aspect, establishes the basement of scholar-painting's development in the future, has indicated the direction for its revolution, even if in Yuan Dynasty and the Ming and Qing Dynasties when the art achievement are most prosperous, we always see the intense infection and the influence in the culture model and the esthetic consciousness to the painting in Song Dynasty,presenting the painting of a scholar theory refer to Su Shi, Mi Fu, HuangTingjian and so on as an ancient great master. Even may say that, the feature of the scholar-painting after Song Dynasty walks along Song Dynasty painting theory direction, is the extend of artistic master's foundation in Song Dynasty's. In this significance, the value of the Song Dynasty painting of a scholar will not be inferior to the contribution of the Renaissance to the western traditional drawing. Through the transformation in each generation, scholar-painting not changed from the trace of Song Dynasty. the Song Dynasty culture is the mother of scholar-painting, therefore, the study of the theorical characteristic and the Works feature of Song Dynasty has the extremely important significance.
