Since the completion of frescoes in Beijing international airport in 1979, Chinese Modern Fresco is divided into two main types as"interacting of colorful material and hollowing out with golden color""appearance like bathing beauty", which is the result of interaction of traditional Confucianism and Taoism. Being inducted by Confucianism and Taoism inevitably, artists pursue the harmony of human being and society or that of human being and nature. Their concern of social identity and nature spiritual ballast mainly is expressed in the contents of works. The former is the description of topics about property achievement, establishment, historical figure, myth, science and civilization, while the latter is about the pure pleasure, sheer natural scenery and decorating paintings. In forms, the former shows the diversified beauty of order, norm, and regulation, whereas the latter is the indifferent and simple beauty of ignorance of regulation, emphasis of liberty, and beautification of nature. At present, there is almost no convincing achievement for the analysis and research of Chinese modern fresco in the two ways mentioned before. The author attempts to give some research fruits in those areas. To begin with, the brief introduction of Chinese traditional Confucianism and Taoism is necessary for the classification of Chinese fresco---those with the encouragement of Confucianism and those with Taoism. Then from the view of Confucian aesthesis, the author analyzes the Chinese Modern Fresco in order to explain the reason for the classification and the effect for creation of fresco given by traditional Confucianism and Taoism. Under such circumstances, the author further analyzes the New Harmony for the beauty of fresco--- tendency of the combination and interaction of Confucianism and Taoism. The passage discusses in three parts: the harmony of human and society—Confucianism in Chinese Modern Fresco; the harmony of human and nature—Taoism in Chinese Modern Fresco; combination and interaction of Confucianism and Taoism in Chinese Modern Fresco. The first two parts gives its introductive analysis of topics and formal regulation of modern fresco by discussing from fresco topics, contents, forms, and colors with a number of examples to show the effects. The third part discusses the dual features in some frescoes—the combination and interaction of Confucianism and Taoism. The classification of fresco is merely based on from the view of topics (historical figure, science and technology, culture, and sports), environment( pubic places or private homes)and materials (soft or hard materials) by Chinese fresco field, which is all focusing on its practical function. The innovation of this passage lies in the breakthrough of the view of traditional classification. Classifying and analyzing the Confucianism and Taoism showing in the frescoes, the author gives the classification of frescoes encouraging Confucianism and those encouraging Taoism by analyzing and concluding the aesthetic meaning of frescoes through various appearances.
