Zhuge Liang is the central figure of “Romance of Three Kingdoms”. The description ofZhuge Liang accounts for about two-thirds of the whole novel. And these parts of descriptionare climax of the novel. Mr. Zheng Zhenduo had said that “Romance of Three Kingdoms” notonly is a description of the Three Kingdoms story, but also is a biography of Zhuge Liang. Inthis article, the author believes that Zhuge Liang’s image is the unification of Confucianism,Taoism, and a Legalist. The first chapter of the paper will be focusing on analyze the image of“King’s Teacher” and Confucianism. Section II of this chapter, which were analyzed “Tuogu”phenomenon, is a new idea. From analysis we will find that Zhuge Liang has traditionalloyalty and profound ideas, which are main ideas of Confucianism. In the second chapter, theauthor will discuss Taoism. Analyzing Zhuge Liang’s earlier life we will find he is leisure.And this kind of leisure life is praised by Taoists. After Zhuge Liang becoming the stratedistof “Shu Kingdom”, he is become a Taoist priest, this part is mystical and is selective analysis.Chapter III of this paper will be focus on the analysis of Zhuge Liang’s concept of the stateand the army. From analysis we will find the idea of legalism from Zhuge Liang. The fourthchapter is focus on the analyze of Confucianism and legalism image from Zhuge Liang. Thereare some examples of description about Zhuge Liang who mediated in famous battle,“theBattle of Red Clif”. And these examples will indicate Zhuge Liang’s idea which includeConfucianism and legalism. The fifth chapters of this paper will analyze Zhuge Liang’s ideawhich include Confucianism and Taoism. In the last part, the author discusses Zhuge Liang’simage is is the unification of Confucianism, Taoism, and a Legalist. And this unification is thesprit of Zhuge Liang’s image, in this reason Zhuge Liang’s image,in“Romance of ThreeKingdoms”, is eternal classic of Chinese traditional culture.
