The Study Of The Origin Of Upper Xiajiadian Culture

This text carries on a study of the origin of Xiajiadian Upper-layer Culture from two angles--human race and culture. A variety of statistical methods have been used to compare and analyze the related data of ancient contrast groups, and by a probe into the close or distant relations between each two contrast groups, a conclusion has been reached, that is, residents of Xiajiadian Upper-layer Culture mainly came from GaoTai Mountain Culture. This conclusion has been confirmed by a further study of this subject from the angle of archeology.There are in all four chapters:Chapter 1．PrefaceThis part introduces the discovery, naming of Xiajiadian Upper-layer Culture, the physical-geographical circumstances in its distribution area, and results of previous archaeological and anthropological studies of this culture.Chapter 2．Racial-anthropological evidences for the origin of Xiajiadian Upper-layer CultureGroups selected as contrast groups for comparison in this text include: the Xiajiadian Upper-layer Culture merger group and the Longtou Mountain group of Xiajiadian Upper-layer Culture, the Wei CountyXiajiadian Lower-layer Culture merger group, Dadianzi Group 1 and 2 of the Xiajiadian Lower-layer Culture, the Ping'anBao group of Gaotai Mountain Culture and the ShunshanTun group of ShunshanTun Culture.A variety of statistical methods have been used to compare and analyze the related data of these ancient contrast groups, and by a probe into the close or distant relations between each two contrast groups, a conclusion has been reached, that is, residents of Xiajiadian Upper-layer Culture mainly came from GaoTai Mountain Culture.Chapter 3．Research into the origin of Xiajiadian Upper-layer CultureJudging by a comparison between remains of early-period Xiajiadian Upper-layer Culture and those of later-period Gaotai Mountain Culture, Xiajiadian Upper-layer Culture obviously inherited many factors of later-period Gaotai Mountain Culture in pottery cooking utensils, containers, bronze vessels and divination customs, thus the conclusion has been made that Gaotai Mountain Culture is the main origin of Xiajiadian Upper-layer Culture. This conclusion has been further confirmed by a study of the creation background of Xiajiadian Upper-layer Culture from the angles of culture and geographical environment.Chapter4．Additional ideas about the racial category of Xiajiadian Upper-layer CultureThis text agrees with the view that the racial category of Xiajiadian Upper-layer Culture is Shanrong, and makes related complements to it.
