Wendeng Dialect Research And Study

Lying in the east of Liaodong Peninsula, Wendeng is a beautiful coastal city with its dialect having very great differences from other Shandong dialects. People who study the dialect all concentrate on the phonetic description, rather than the enough research of vocabulary and syntax, which leads to the study of the dialect vocabulary and syntax in the secondary position.This essay is going to analyze the vocabulary and grammar of the dialect of Wendeng. The four parts of the essay are: Part one, The introduction- introduces the geographical population profile, historical evolution , the ascription and internal diversity of Wendeng dialect, which gives the reader a preliminary understanding to Wendeng and Wendeng dialect. Part two-Vocabulary, mostly presents the differences between Wendeng dialect and mandarin, the word making motivation and system, the characteristics of Wendeng dialect vocabulary, and collects some peculiar vocabulary and idioms of the dialect. Part three-studies some words and expressions of the dialect, hunts the ancient vocabulary kept in the vocabulary of Wendeng , examines the original form of a character of the dialect, through probing into the characteristic of the words of Wendeng from another point of view. Part four-Syntax, explains the Syntax Structure of overlapping , suffixation of a nonsyllabic , pronoun and comparative sentence, and tag question etc.. which gives a systematic analysis to the grammar phenomenon of Wendeng dialect.
