Oral History And Its Application In The Research Of Pop Music

This article discussed the application of oral history in the research of pop music.In the first chapter, I tried to start from the basic theory of oral history, to discuss the definition of oral history and its technical essence, and further, compared its methodology with that of traditional history and other subjects. The new improvement in the theory and practice in oral history was involved. And in the end of this chapter, I brought about the technical meaning in combination of oral history and the research of pop music.In the second chapter, I narrated the historical background of oral history in the Occident and the Orient, and the original application and recent development of oral history in the research of pop music.In the third chapter, by studying the working criterion established by different association and connecting with the characteristic of pop music researching, I tried to make clear the basic process of this subject and the practical application of it in the research of pop music. By analyzing those existing examples and the oral interviews made by myself, I tried to construct an integrated principle in applying oral history in research of pop music, and to suggest professional ethic and legal responsibility of the oral interviewer.In conclusion, I mentioned those yet unsolved problem in resent research, and the prospective development of this subject.
