The number of Ou Yangxiu' s narration is no more than 39 pieces, but as for the number of his elaborate works that have enjoyed high reputation and spread widely, they have occupied an important position in his creation of prose.His narration is full of subjective consciousness, not only integrating narration, expression of emotion and comments, but also diversifying and developing the narration of pavilions, gardens and temples, the narration of travel notes on landscapes, the narration of paintings and calligraphies as well as miscellanies of occurrences in human life, so its historical connecting link between the preceding and following is indispensable. In addition, his narration is characterized by vivid innovative consciousness and artistic feature. First, one main feature is the shift of subjects and cores of representation. The subject of a narration is to "distinguish objects by narrating things" , and the subject and the core are things and objects, but Ou Yangxiu' s narration is filled with anxiety about the nation and the people. Secondly, enhancement of literary tendency is another feature. Ou Yangxiu viewed the reality of contents and literary grace of language as two key factors making his works hand down long. His practicability, number one feature, made hid narration have better artistic and aesthetic value. On the other hand, his narration is closely connected with realistic politics. As a result, there are more comments in his works. Ou Yangxiu was not only a litterateur but also an outstanding politician, so he changed his concern about the current political situation to strong political responsibility. His political thought was closed linked together with the nation' s forture and his literary creation was closely bound up with real society.Love of arguments and comments in his works has become animportant feature.
