The Research On The Studies Of Shiji In USA

The great contribution on the studies of Shiji that the research of American Sinology had made have improved and riched the globe area in studying Shiji. According to western concept, historical data is divided into the first-hand and the second-hand, in which the former is much more important than the latter. But till now there is no integrity version of Shiji's translation. Further more, besides the difference between Chinese and western culture, most American researchers know little about Chinese especially ancient Chinese. All these must take misapprehend in the study of Shiji.Consisting of three chapters, based on the three versions popular used by the sinologists, this thesis aims to exhibit the process of the Shiji study in USA, to answer some questions that the sinologists rose in their study, to correct some misunderstanding about Shiji and to offer a constructive academic angle for our contemporary culture construction.
