Women's life is one part of the social life. Living conditions of women, who lived in the Republic of China in the North-west District of Shanxi Province, reflected the real situation of the area. Their statement of birth , childbearing and health showed the traditional characteristics of the style of the produce and life.The thesis which takes Baode Country for example tells us what is the history like and how the women spent the time. By analyzing the problems of the birth and married women's health in the area during the period, The writer wants to imply the relation between the health, birth, childbearing and the society. The motivation and action of the aspects had been deeply effected by the traditional society in politics, economy and culture, which caused some problems about many women s health. By interviewing about 100 people of the area, and comparing with the historical information, the writer checked some true life in Baode Country during the period.The thesis is mainly divided into three parts, The first part is the child-bearing situation of women in Baode Country in the Republic of China, which covered the first marriage and first childbearing;the number of the birth and the cycle of the childbearing. The character is marriage early and giving birth early, long time of childbearing, a numberof children, but because these factors such as the social substance and life in a bad condition > the traditional views and customs about childbearing affected people s life. The rate of dying in infants was very high, the sexual discrimination in childbearing was serious, especially preferred boys. The second part is the health situation of childbearing ago in Baode Country in the Republic of China. The writer analyzed the influence about women health and the real situation from labor ^ nutrition > physiology n psychology and customs of childbearing. The third part discussed the influence of the social change on women childbearing and health. People had strong will to change the traditional society, including women childbearing and health. However, new things could hardly been understood and accepted by the majority, due to the strong traditional ideas. But all these work made a good preparation for the progress later.The writer finished the thesis using the theory and method of the social history, integrating the knowledge in historyn society> population and sexual, absorbing the good things of the former research, referencing numbers of historic information. All these work aimed to reveal the true history. The thesis mainly focused on the importance of the space of the women life, called on the respect of the life and childbearing, in order to show the missed aspect in the traditional history.Nowadays, we construct our new country in the socialism in China. We have solved the problem of the population. But old things such ascustoms and ideas in the childbearing exists, the level of women health need to make a further step, after we must take the lessen of the past history, we may prompt the harmonious construction of the new country.
