| The study of spousal violence, as part of the family violence, has a history of more than 30 years in the western countries, and it has been a well-established academic area. In China, spousal violence did not attract the public attention until the '95 World Conference on Women in Beijing. Since then, scholars published many research articles successively, and case reports appeared in the mass media, and introductory papers on the research trends in the world were published. Meanwhile, in a lot of countries, victims already can have received appropriate care from the law and society. But comparatively speaking, the witnessing children of the spousal violence are ignored by people.According to Jaffe, Wolfe and Wilson's definition in 1990, the witnessing children of the spousal violence are "Child that often witnesses one of his or her parents (mean now whether it is or once the parents with marriage relation or not) maltreating another part, including seeing threatening, hitting directly, or didn't see but heard hitting or threaten directly, or only saw its last results, for example saw the injured mother's scar the next day."(Wei HongJin, 2004) Psychological problems from witnessing spousal violence that children received are not in fact often second to the victims', even are more grave. In social system, the family is the first socialized place of children, and the first incomparable social environment of one too. Father, mother and the other members on the basis of the marriage and the blood relationships, form different complicate social relationships and influence on children's socialized course. So, all sorts of factors in family's system have irreplaceable function on different fields such as morality's forming, personality's training and future development of children. The spousal violence, as an abominable manner of treating the spouse, is the infringement on the spouse's personal right and spiritual free. It has damaged the harmony, peacefulness of the family and the stability of the society. Children place themselves in the midst of the family, which both have warm and violence and dispute, will inevitably receive the harmful effects. Various psychological development problems emerge.
