Martin Guerre, opening in 1996, being a new member of the musical family, hasn't yet gained its universal recognition from the market. In spite of the fact that it is a works of the well-famed Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil, the audience and the critics are singing totally different tunes. Therefore, it appears to be a subject of present-day which is quite worthy of a constructive study.This thesis consists in four parts. In the approaches of drama, music as well as its style, it attempts to analyze and summarize the artistic characteristics of the play "Martin Guerre", so as to make a research as complete as possible. Part one discusses on the tragic of the play, theatrically; With a view to the techniques and the structure of the music, part two and part three make a comprehensive analysis of the music and the drama of the musical; In term of the grand stage effects, the seriousness and recreational characteristics, and the folk characteristics, part four analyzes the style evolution of the play as a whole; By placing it in the background of when it came into existence, the rest of the contents try to evaluate the situation of its performances objectively.
