According to the calligraphy movement epistemology of the modern times, the author believes that, the writing way and the holding-brush technique have the decisive influences on the performance characteristics and so they are important determining factors which the calligraphy style forms. But the occurrence of the calligraphy style is also the inevitable result which the font continues to evolve. Therefore, in the Han Wei and the Six Dynasties times of the arising of the calligraphy font, their writing ways have the unneglected functions in the occurrences and transforms of the calligraphy style.The writing way of Jan Du is a special one which the left hand holds Jan Du or the paper and the right hand holds brush to write. It closely united with the social customs of Ancient China, especially before the Tang Dynasty. And it is one of the most universal writing ways which applied daily in ancient times.It is one of the writing way of Running-hand Calligraphy, and it has the unofficial characteristic. Its lower limits of widespread application age is at between Tang and Song Dynasty when the social customs had significantly changed.Because the writing way of Jan Du refers with three major characteristics: to nimbly utilize fingers and wrist , to require to take the longitudinal potentiality in nature and to require to quickly write in nature, so it has a prior definition to the formation of the Running-hand art standard. To use the writing way of Jan Du to make Li Cao and Zhang Cao unceasingly change their artistic characteristics which does not conform with the request of Jan Du, Jin Cao reached to perfection in the Two Jin Dynasty.Therefore, the writing way of Jan Du determined the direction that Cao Shu developed from Li Cao and Zhang Cao to Jin Cao, and this is direct cause which Jin Cao formed.
