People pay much more attention to the moral education thought of ancient China, especially, moral education theory's function in modernization represented by the Confucianist. The study of the development, main character and the value of the moral education thought of ancient China in the China socialist modernization not only has the theoretical significance but also has the important practical significance. This paper includes three parts:The first part mainly reorganizes the formation and development of the moral education theory of ancient China in Chinese history. On the premise of the formation of its concept and its connotation of morality, ancient China moral education gives an account of its theory based on the cultivating of people's morality. The moral education theory of the Confucianist has established the basic pattern and trend for the moral education thought of ancient China. Taking the Confucianist moral education thought as its core and cultivating morality in many different ways have become the tradition of the moral education thought of ancient China .The second part mainly concerns with several features of the moral education thought of ancient China. It includes: the value trend of regarding people as superior to nature; regarding the social overall order as superior to individual freedom; regarding justice as superior to benefit; advocating practice.The third part inquires into the modern value of China ancient moral education. The moral education theory of the Confucianist plays the vital role in the process of modernization in Singapore and other nations and areas. The harmonious spirit of ancient China moral education has a positive role in the construction of china socialist harmonious society. The misery awareness of ancient China moral education could stimulate and cultivate the citizen's strong sense of social responsibility. The accomplishment awareness and personality awareness of ancient China moral education could resist the side effect of the market economy.
