Filial piety is traditional virtue of the Chinese people. In Chinese traditional culture, filial piety have important place. It influences Chinese politics, education and Chinese people's life deeply. In modern China, filial piety still have great value to individual, family, society and nation. The value of moral education what filial piety have potentially is especially worth studying and using to moral development of modern China.But, because of feudal character what filial piety have, we must inherit it after cautious selection and change it according to the age requests. When we change it, we must remember three points: according to the requests of social development; to attach importance to everybody's right; to fit in with people's practical life. On intension of filial piety, we should take being good at serving their parents as its core and distinguish it from loyalty; On place of filial piety, we should look on it as one of family ethics and equalize it with other morals; On how to realize it, we should discard the traditional ceremony and take making our parents happy and pay attention to the opinions or wish of our parents as our principle.In modern China, what we need really is new filial piety. Then, what is new filial piety? It means the virtue that the young try their best to serve their parents and respect the old. It results from the consciousness that people want to pay back their parents. It reflects people's real love to their parents. It demands the young to support and take care of their parents. In order to enhance filial piety in our society, we must enhance education of new filial piety and construct it as social system project.
